Ford kicked off the 2021 SEMA Show with a pretty rad concept, built in tandem with MLe Racecars. Together, the two debuted the Ford F-100 Eluminator Concept to display the capabilities of an Electric future with restomod/aftermarket capabilities. Our initial thoughts; This is a pretty cool concept and really displays aftermarket creativity, all the while pushing for electric power.
The Ford F-100 Eluminator Concept uses two of Ford’s brand new available-for-purchase electric crate motor, the Mustang Mach-E GT Electric Crate Motor. We’ll go over those details momentarily but as you can probably guess from the name, the new crate motor for purchase is the electric motor derived from the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV! With two of Ford’s Mustang Mach-E GT Electric Crate Motors in sync, total power output for the F-100 Eluminator Concept comes to 480 horsepower and 634 torque. Additionally via the dual crate motor, the F-100 Eluminator is also all wheel drive due to one crate motor being planted on each axle. Featured in Avalanche Gray and Cerakote Copper, everything about the F-100 Eluminator has been customized. Everything about the exterior demonstrates a classic Ford pickup truck, minus the charging port of course and sitting on 3-piece billet aluminum forged wheels. It’s upon opening the hood and gazing the interior, the future is shown.
One of the electric motors can be seen alongside a small storage space when opening the front hood, not what you’re used to seeing when opening the hood of a truck. But hey, these are the times we’re moving towards! The central rotating knob gear shifter, aluminum dashboard, bucket seats, digital gauge cluster, and massive infotainment screen reside on the inside. This vehicle kinda feels like it would fit right in with a Burning Man festival, and that’s not a complaint. Rather, its a compliment as to how cool it is! So let’s get to the meat of why this Ford F-100 Eluminator Concept exists, the crate motors. Whilst this is also a build up to the upcoming Ford F-150 Lightning, this is also about the electric crate motors.
Ford is now offering their Mustang Mach-E GT Electric Crate Motor for custom shops and independent customers to purchase! Each electric motor individually produces 281 horsepower and 317 torque, with a cost of $3900 and available from authorized Ford Performance dealers. With an electric crate motor now available for purchase, we can only imagine all the projects that shops and builders are going to come up with. Additionally, think of the other types of buyers this electric crate motor will attract; Warehouses, Manufacturers, Electric/Sustainability Businesses, etc. this list can go on. Ford is getting ahead of the game when it comes to additional aftermarket purchases.
All in all, we love the Ford F-100 Eluminator Concept and the Mustang Mach-E GT Electric Crate Motor is going to rack in the dollars for Ford.
