Would you rock a classic racing livery on a brand new supercar? We most certainly would! This just in, long-time Acura sponsor Motul has thrown a “Digital Livery” on the super exclusive Acura NSX Type S! For those that might not be aware, Motul is a French Oil & Lubricant company that develops products for the automotive industry. They have been a long-time sponsor of the Acura NSX in the Super GT racing series and are the Official Sponsor of this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix in Long Beach, California.
The livery itself is truly fantastic utilizing a Red, White, and Gold color scheme. The Retro 80’s and 90’s graphics are accompanied by a set of Brushed Gold HRE 527 FMR Two-Piece Wheels, from HRE’s “Vintage Series”. Fantastic wheel choice and perfect for a classic livery fitment. We’ve got a thing for gold wheels on red cars 🙂 With Motul wanting to promote their brand new 300V Oil Formula in the US, what better way to let the world know by partnering up with their long-time racing partner, Acura!
There’s truly not one thing about the “Motul” NSX Type S Livery that we don’t like, the entire design is fantastic. It just works and is a perfect display of a retro design with modern influence, it’s always a pleasure when car manufacturers dive into their racing heritage and bring racing liveries back to life. Motul and Acura have done just that, well done!
To give you a fresh recap on the Acura NSX Type S performance figures, here’s an excerpt from our previous article;
“The Acura NSX Type S utilizes the same Twin-Turbocharged 3.5L V6 with Dual Electric Motor assistance, though changes have been made! Total horsepower has been increased to 600 (520 without electric motors) and torque remains at 492. The turbos fitted aren’t just retuned, they’re in fact brand new. Acura has fitted the same turbos on the new NSX Type S that can be found on the NSX GT3 Evo race car – increasing boost pressure from 15.2 psi to 16.1psi. The 9-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission has been completely retuned to upshift and downshift much faster and features what Acura is calling “Rapid Downshift Mode”, in which the car instantly selects the lowest possible gear to downshift when racing. Thus, you’re always in the best possible gear when coming out of the corners! Additionally, the redline has been increased by 1500rpm when in “Track” Mode. Top speed remains the same at 191 mph.”
